Land Transfer Surveys
These surveys define rights to land and once completed become part of the national survey record, administered by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). They are a part of any subdivision, defining new property boundaries and any new easements or other rights. Alternatively, they be undertaken only to define a new easement such as a right of way. Leases, covenants and other rights and restrictions may also be defined by these types of survey.
Any new parcel boundaries must be related to existing boundaries to ensure there is no gap or overlap. Therefore while undertaking these surveys we look for old pegs and other old survey marks from previous surveys in the area.
Following approval of the surveys by LINZ, new rights are legally created by the issue of new certificates of title and the registration of other documents against the appropriate titles.
Our plans and other survey information will be available, so that tomorrow’s surveyors will be able to assist future owners to determine their exact property rights.
